No.256 Residence

Bangkok

Nestled in the quiet residential enclave of Sirindhorn Alley in Bangkok, No.256 House is a private two-story residence with a garden that spans 240 square meters. The green space is tucked away at the back of the house, adjacent to a serene balcony corner designated for relaxation. Measuring approximately 5 meters in width and enclosed by a towering 3-meter-high fence, the garden is a shaded sanctuary that basks in sunlight only for brief periods each day. With these conditions, the landscape architecture concept opts for a tropical garden lush with foliage plants and trees that thrive in such environments.

Seamlessly extending from the wooden balcony, the courtyard is envisioned as an open-air haven with outdoor furniture. An existing mature tree anchors the space, serving as the garden’s focal point. To enhance the greenery and soften the vertical lines of the high fence, additional tall trees known as Tower Trees were strategically planted along the perimeter. The positioning of this intimate garden is meticulously planned to provide captivating views from the home’s living room.

A highlight of this lush garden is the area adjacent to the expansive glass windows. Here, a majestic 15-year-old Fern Tree takes center stage and is complemented by a curated understory of ferns and foliage plants, including Ball Fern, Bush Maidenhair Fern, and Cibotium barometz. Ground cover plants and a carpet of moss cling to decorative stones below, adding texture and depth while enhancing the garden’s tropical allure.
